Episode 10: Remember That Time Data Got Laid?

Season 1 of Transporter Room 3 comes to an end this week, as we travel back to that terrifying era known as Star Trek: The Next Generation's first year. You will believe an android can get lucky!

Before taking off for the holidays, Transporter Room 3's Scott Collura and Phil Pirrello dive into "The Naked Now," the first-season craptacular TNG episode that involves Data, a lubed up Tasha Yar and, apparently, a bunch of amateurs manning the flagship of the fleet. Man, get these guys some collars on their uniforms, STAT!

"I'm telling you Data, chicks love this."

We also read a couple of choice Listener Mailbags, leading to a discussion about the "Uncle Tom Effect" of the Federation. (No, not Uncle Tom Paris.) Plus, our latest, most tragic-est Red Shirt of the Week faces his fate like the dimwit that he is. Oh, and Scott got the chance to talk briefly with General Chang himself, Christopher Plummer, and we've got the data tapes to prove it...

Remember, we'll be off for the next couple of weeks celebrating the holiday on Risa. But look for Season 2 of Transporter Room 3 after the New Year!

Episode 9: Seven of Nine Gets Naked! On the Radio!

This week, our sensors detected a lot of nerd-worthy updates for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek 2, and of course, we scrutinize the hell out of 'em!

Right click above to save (45.4 MBs). Or subscribe:

Transporter Room 3's Scott Collura and Phil Pirrello take a look at Peter Weller's role in the mucho-anticipated sequel, geeking out about how excited we are to have RoboCop back in the Trek mix, and then turn our attention to Benicio Del Toro not playing the super-secret (cough) villain. (It's Khan. Try not to faint.) Can the sequel afford to lose a big name like Oscar-winner Del Toro? All that and more gets debated in what promises to be the most intense auditory experience you will ever have this side of the Alpha Quadrant.

And Voyager fans? This TR3 is for you, as we finally do the talky thing about an episode of the fourth Trek series. Our selection? "The Omega Directive." It's not the worst thing we've seen, but it's also not as good as we remember it being. Oh, and another Red Shirt is remembered -- because someone's gotta -- and the bar on our particular brand of crass humor is raised. Or lowered, depending on your quality of life.

So give Ensign Kim the conn, put on your best off-duty shiny shirt (Riker style!) and settle in for Episode 9. (We promise it's better than Insurrection!)

Episode 8: Starfleet's Biggest Douchebags

Right click above to save (55.0 MBs). Or subscribe:

The Transporter Room 3 podcast returns from a wee bout of Thanksgiving shore leave! Hosts and surprisingly non-virgins Scott Collura and Phil Pirrello discuss the filibuster-worthy topic of 3D or not 3D. (And yes, we do so while spinning around in our command chairs, General Chang-style!)

But the main event -- Starfleet's Biggest Douchebags -- bumps our usual discussion of a Trek episode in favor of verbally kick-punching the Federation's impressive D-Bag contingent. Assbutts like Star Trek III's mini-cane-carrying Captain Styles, TNG's Data-dissecting Cmdr. Maddox and Voyager's crazy Captain Ransom get served like food cubes in the Enterprise's mess hall. Also, we reunion tour with another fallen Red Shirt. And we debut our new podcast intro, made by one of our listeners!

(And yes, we know we're missing any talk about that latest Khan news, or the casting of Lt. McCleavage Alice Eve, but we just seem to have the bad luck of recording right before news breaks. We'll try harder next week!)

So puff on the inhalers, Mom-proof the bedroom door and crank your Zunes up to, well, however loud a Zune can get. Episode 8 of TR3 is guaranteed to make you nerdsplode.

Episode 7: Enterprise Didn't Always Suck Balls!

It’s been a long road, getting from there to here.
It’s been a long time, but my time is finally near.
And I can feel the change in the wind right now. Nothing’s in my way.
And they’re not gonna hold me down no more, no they're not gonna hold me down.

What? You guys wanted us to talk about Star Trek: Enterprise, right? So don’t blame us if you just threw up a little in your mouth!

Welcome back to the coolest Star Trek podcast ever, Transporter Room 3. Yes “cool” and “Star Trek podcast” equals an oxymoron, and no, we don’t care.

This week, Trek fanatics Scott Collura and Phil Pirrello shuttle down to Rigel X to examine the pilot episode of Enterprise, “Broken Bow,” while also pondering what kind of special gift Mad Men’s Duck Phillips left in Captain Archer’s quarters. (No, that smell isn’t coming from Porthos, Archer!) Plus, as always we've got listener mailbag and our latest Red Shirt of the Week -- we promise, this one is a real face-off!

Now here’s the bad news: No podcast next week because of Thanksgiving. Boooo! But we’ll be back two weeks from now to talk some Voyager! Brace yourselves…

Episode 6: Khaaaaaaaaaan!!!

So Benicio Del Toro might be playing the villain in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek 2, huh? And weren't we just talking last week about how much we didn't want to see Khan rebooted? Then why do we have the feeling that Del Toro is totally up for the role of the genetically-engineered superman?!

And here we are again for the best Trek podcast ever, Transporter Room 3. How do we know it's so good? Because our moms told us so. And so did Spock's mom (the one who didn't get all blown up, that is).

This week, Trek fanatics Scott Collura and Phil Pirrello present an all-Khan episode. That's how sure we are that Kirk's ultimate nemesis is going to be the big bad in Abrams' sequel. And, hey, even if we're wrong… it's always fun to talk about Khan's pecs. "They offered the world order!" And as always, we've got more mailbag and our latest Red Shirt of the Week -- all Khan related, of course.

Episode 5: Abrams' Star Trek: We're Still Talking About This? Seriously?!

Want to hear two grown men chat J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek and eating Deanna Troi nightmare cake? Then you’ve come to the right place, you lucky so-and-so!

Welcome back to the best Trek podcast in Nerd-istory, Transporter Room 3. We promise, our fifth installment is 47 times better than Trek V: The Final Frontier. (With 70% less rocket boots!)

This week, Trek fanatics (and IGN editors) Scott Collura and Phil Pirrello revisit 2009’s Trek reboot and debate the merits of Trek’s biggest adventure yet. Also, got a hankering to revisit that TNG episode where Data has a dream about easy-bake Troi cake? Check. Want to kick Scotty’s comedic-relief sidekick in his alien nuts? Check and mate! And of course, we answer more hails from our mailbag and strap on the black armbands for our latest Red Shirt of the Week.

Episode 4: Sex, Holodeck Style!

Welcome back to Transporter Room 3, our Star Trek-only podcast where we virtually guarantee that our progeny and our progeny's progeny will get beaten up by whatever their generation's equivalent of a jock is! (A parrises squares player?)

TR3 features Trek fanatics (and IGN editors) Scott Collura and Phil Pirrello talking all things Star Trek each week. Get down with the Psi 2000 sickness!

This week, we set our phasers to "pervy" as we answer listener mailbag about whether or not Starfleet frowned upon banging pixels and polygons on the holodeck. And then, after taking a sonic shower, we turn our attention to a healthy discussion of DS9's "Things Past," Garak's racism and Twitter's hilarious loglines for episodes of TNG's Season 8. Plus, Trek's best (worst?) Halloween episodes and Red Shirt of the Week -- this week's poor bastard put on the yellow tunic and still got screwed. The Red Shirt is like the Final Destination of uniforms…

Riker would hit that.

Episode 3: Why Spock Kicks Ass

Welcome to the latest installment of Transporter Room 3, our new Star Trek-only podcast. TR3 features Trek fanatics (and IGN editors) Scott Collura and Phil Pirrello worshipping weekly at the altar of Gene Roddenberry's creation.

This week we examine the recent Star Trek 2 news where Spock 2.0 himself, Zachary Quinto, revealed that he's training for a big action scene in the new film. We also geek-out over one of our all-time favorite episodes of Deep Space Nine, while of course touching upon all kinds of other obscure tidbits -- from the failings of certain Starfleet officers to more nostalgia for Trek toys of our past to Major Kira's hairstyles. Hey, nobody said this wasn't going to be nerdy!

Perhaps most importantly, we now have an RSS feed. So click the icon below and make sure you subscribe! We're also on iTunes now, so be sure to give us a good rating over there too… We need the support if we're going to keep this podcast going!

Episode 2: How Captain Picard Lost His Groove

And we're back for the second episode of Transporter Room 3, our new Star Trek-only podcast. TR3 features Trek fanatics (and IGN editors) Scott Collura and Phil Pirrello talking everything and anything about Gene Roddenberry's undying franchise.

In this installment, things get embarrassing, as you might expect, as we talk about our most embarrassing moments as Trek fans. The conversation also veers into Star Trek: Nemesis territory and the weirdness that is that movie. Also, we have our first reader mailbag!

Episode 1: Star Trek Will Save Your Life

And so will listening to Transporter Room 3, our brand new Star Trek-only podcast!

Movies, TV, toys, creepy cosplay -- if it's about a starship, a Vulcan or a Borg Babe, your fearless Trek fanatics (and IGN editors) Scott Collura and Phil Pirrello are ready to talk about it in this (hopefully) regular series.

Be warned, however: This podcast is not for the weak of heart or anyone who is afraid of seriously obsessive geek-out sessions. At any moment, Collura might dovetail into a 15-minute dissertation on the dangers of being related to Worf. Or Phil will guarantee himself a future of loneliness because of his intensive knowledge of Voyager!

But! If you know the difference between Matt Decker and Will Decker, if the prospect of an M-5 multitronic unit makes you feel like Captain Dunsel, if you agreed that Picard should've blown up the damned ship… well, then you're in the right place.

In this debut episode of Transporter Room 3, we talk about the new William Shatner documentary The Captains as well as the recent announcement that Star Trek: The Next Generation is coming to Blu-ray. Plus, we ponder that age-old question: Which Riker do you prefer -- transporter accident Tom Riker or bushy-bearded alternate universe "The Borg are everywhere!" Riker?!

If you have any questions or remarks, please comment below, e-mail us or hit us on Twitter. We want to know that at least one person is listening… Find us at:
