Episode 55 kicks off with a visit from Ron Moore. Well, technically some quotes from Moore but hey RON MOORE EVERYBODY!

The past and -- hopefully -- future Star Trek writer sounds off about another TV series happening… someday. Will he have a role in it? Listen to find out!

And you all know we're big fans of Sisko and Company, but we may be even bigger fans of Deep Space Nine's collection of allies and enemies orbiting our heroes. From Garak to Moogie (?!), we rank and file our favorite supporting characters from the show -- a roster of folks bigger than any Trek show’s before or since!

Who is this week's Red Shirt? He comes by way of Star Trek III and arguably suffered one of the worst fates in the universe: Killed while sitting in a pink chair.

But wait! We also have to give a shout-out this week to our friends Arnold T. Blumberg and Scott Alan Woodard at the G2V Podcast. Scott (Collura) sat in over there for a Planet of the Apes chat that you will not want to miss, so be sure to give it a listen and subscribe to those guys while you’re at it. You’ll go bananas for them.

We kick off 2014 with a review of the shiny new Blu-ray set of Star Trek: Enterprise -- Season 3. The Xindi arc, arguably the most underrated run of Trek episodes, finds Archer and Co. struggling to save Earth in a series of good-to-great episodes. And would you believe the writers thought about killing off Archer?!

We talk about that and toss in one hell of a Red Shirt death from Season 3! Plus, we chatter about a few rare Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country images that have surfaced, and Phil fills us in on LeVar Burton’s latest, greatest appearance on Community…

So call up the MACOs, pull up a seat with the Aquatics, and listen right now!

Then we tackle one of Trek's most controversial figures (in a good way): Seven of Nine.

The former Borg turned pin-up proves that resistance isn't futile, especially if you're a red-blooded male anything. Did her role hurt or help Trek? Listen to find out!

So Seven, Trek 3, and a Red Shirt of the Week -- what more could you ask for?

Episode 52: The Star Trek: First Contact That Could’ve Been

Seventeen years ago, on November 22, 1996, Star Trek: First Contact arrived in theaters and proved to be the rare crossover hit. To celebrate one of the best Trek movies ever, we flip through an early draft of the script to see what made the final cut and what didn't!

From climbing turboshafts with Picard and Lily, to space-walking along the deflector dish to get to a photon launcher (!), we highlight a few bits we wish we could have seen. Plus, what were the earlier incarnations of what would become First Contact? Here’s a hint: Data and Leonardo da Vinci… Nah, they’d never go that far! *Voyager fans shudder*

Also in this episode? We briefly review Thor: The Dark World, address some reader mail about TNG's final seasons, and offer up our most controversial Red Shirt of the Week yet!

These are just a few of the many great episodes Next Gen's fifth season gave us.

To celebrate the November 19th release of Season 5 on Blu-ray, Scott and Phil reunion-tour with the season that gave us everything from the return of Spock to Picard's space flute!

530-picard-dathon-darmok

Plus, we have the winner of our Star Trek: The Art of Juan Ortiz book giveaway! And no episode of Transporter Room 3 would be complete without another Red Shirt of the Week. This week's occupant of the torpedo casket comes from Season 5's underrated "Disaster." You thought Picard had it bad being trapped with those kids? Doesn't hold a candle to our Red Shirt's explode-y demise.

So slip on your suede Picard jacket 'cause we're about to go all "Darmok and Jalad!" on this bitch! Er, I mean, listen to Episode 51 now!

(Don't worry. Next Gen is near the top of the "To-Do" list.)

And we follow that up with our long-lost interview with Michael Dorn discussing all things Klingon and a very cool TV idea for Mr. Worf. There's also Red Shirt of the Week, a sweet Trek book giveaway, and that one time Phil gave Leonard Nimoy pizza.
