This week, Justin Bolger joins us once again, this time for a deep-dive into the legacy of the first season-finale cliffhanger in Trek history, and how Picard’s tragic encounter with the Borg would shape and define the franchise for three decades. And of course we have a Red Shirt - 19 of them, actually.

So modulate your phaser frequencies, random settings, don’t give them time to adapt, and listen now to the new TR3!

Episode 184: Picard Ep. 7 - The Riker/Troi/Hugh Hour!

Man, Star Trek: Picard just nailed it in Episode 7, “Nepenthe,” the episode that reunites Jean-Luc with Will Riker and Deanna Troi, and also unites two characters who were previously strangers to one another -- Hugh and Elnor!

This episode of Transporter Room 3 is posting the same day that Phil is getting married -- while naked, of course, in Ten Forward! -- so special guest host Dr. Arnold T. Blumberg beams in to fill (phil?) in for Phil! We discuss why Arnold loves Picard but really couldn’t get into Discovery before diving in to the return of some of our favorite Next Generation characters.

And Hugh actor Jonathan Del Arco enters the queencell and uses the Sikarian spatial trajector to visit TR3 for a chat about his beloved character and the big, big moments for him in “Nepenthe.”

Of course, we’ve also got Reader Mail and a bunch of Red Shirts as well, so light up the Riker pizza oven, practice your Viverna language skills, and listen to the latest episode of Transporter Room 3 now!

“The Impossible Box” also reunites Hugh with his liberator, finally gives us some interesting Soji/Narek stuff to chew on, and also offers fans lots of Star Trek: First Contact nostalgia. But is the episode any good?

That answer, more Reader Mail and a few Red Shirts from Bozeman, Montana, are in this week’s episode. So take off your shoes, turn on your Borg implants, and listen now to the newest TR3!

We've been obsessing over the new trailer (Data! Seven of Nine!) ever since it dropped at Comic-Con over the weekend, and we're here to break down some bits in it you might have missed. We also got our first look at the Star Trek: Lower Decks animated series and new Short Treks featuring the return of Captain Pike’s crew AND the latest on Discovery Season 3 -- and you bet we have OPINIONS on all of that.

Speaking of Picard, our Red Shirt comes from the good captain's last battle with the Borg. It's a good one.

So open your comm badge case, pour a cup of Earl Grey, hot, and listen now to the new TR3!

This week we snapshot our reactions to the newest Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 trailer (why is Spock writing crazy things on the floor?!), review the latest Short Trek, "The Brightest Star" -- AKA The One All About Saru -- and, if you're looking for a last-minute holiday gift, we discuss the Discovery Season 1 Blu-ray.

As always, another Red Shirt visits us from the Final Frontier -- this one, though, hails from a time before the Final Frontier was even really a thing (hint!). So put on your black Starfleet badges, pour a glass of Aunt Adele's hot milk toddy recipe and listen now to the newest ep of TR3!

This week, we revisit "The Game" -- which is basically a public service announcement for why Riker should never, ever be allowed to visit Risa. Ever. But man, Ashley Judd’s Robin Lefler makes her second (and last onscreen) appearance, and along the way she gets a million sweaty nerd hearts a’fluttering!

We also have Discovery casting/re-casting news, reader mail and drones of Red Shirts -- all victims of The Hugh-ening.

So sit back, relax, put some cones in the funnel and listen now to the new ep of TR3!

Episode 98/99: Why Star Trek: First Contact Is Still Awesome 20 Years Later

This week, Scott and Phil revisit an oldie but a goodie: Star Trek: First Contact! In honor of its 20th anniversary on Nov. 22, we sat down with our new friend (and fan!) Aaron Couch from The Hollywood Reporter to discuss his must-read oral history on the film and our favorite First Contact memories.

We also have an exclusive interview with legendary Star Trek director Nicholas Meyer, where we discuss all things Time After Time (which has a new Blu-ray out), Star Trek VI, and Star Trek: Discovery. And last, but not least, several Red Shirts visit us from beyond the grave -- but right before the Borg assimilate them.

So modulate your phaser rifles, stay away from Deck 16 and listen now to this special double episode of TR3!
